Building and repairing steel bike frames on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples.

repairs, Mods, Racks and frames:

repairs and modifications

Lots of us already have great bikes that might be missing something. Maybe some disk brake tabs or new cable routing. Maybe the top tube needs replacing or the chainstay bridge is rusting out. This is what I’m most interested in working with other people on. Keeping the good stuff going.

Custom racks

We can make something for exactly the bike you’re riding that’s practical and beautiful.

FRAMEBUILDING

I build brass brazed chromoly steel bicycles inspired by my own riding and all the great local builders from around here. Always trying to balance the practical and the whimsical.

Community events:

Building bikes is cool....Building community is cooler

The ‘Paul Brodie Bicycle Show’ is coming up on June 15th and 16th. We’re celebrating 40 years career of a true local legend by displaying a collection of Paul’s completely hand-built, one-of-kind bikes that have never been displayed together. Click the poster for tickets and more details.

Summer 2023 was the first annual ‘Works in Progress’ Bicycle Maker Show. We brought together bike makers to share their work, tools and process. Community! Excited for the next one. Click the poster below to view the image gallery, it was a blast.

I’m a framebuilder with a focus on steel bike repair, modification, upgrades as well as custom racks.

I started riding by exploring the alleyways of my hometown. Dabbled in youth bmx racing and then moved onto a rigid mountain bike in highschool. Toured Europe on a 12 speed and have been mostly commuting with the odd adventure thrown in there ever since. I’ve always wanted to build a bicycle frame, and at home during Covid it seemed like a good time to see if I could put my journeyperson pipefitter skills to good use. Here we are.

Building and repairing bicycles is an important source for practical and creative expression for me and I’m hoping to use it to keep more bikes on the road, and more people on them.
